2022 Stash Busting Crochet Along Stitch Sampler Blanket part 6. Learn new stitches and crochet a beautiful keepsake blanket in the process. It's not to late to join the fun!

Today I am sharing Part 9 of our 2022 Stash Busting Crochet Along. Only 1 more to go and then the border.

If you are new here, all this year we are working on a row-by-row crochet stitch sampler throw. We will learn approximately 30 new stitches to use on future projects and end up with a beautiful keepsake too. You can find out all about this crochet along here. It’s not too late to join!

THE STITCHES

This month we are adding the cluster v-stitch, popcorn stitch and the mini butterfly stitch.

First up is the Cluster V-Stitch. This stitch is made by doing a 2 double crochet cluster (dc2tog), a chain and another 2 double crochet cluster all in the same stitch or space.

Next up I wanted to add some texture with popcorn stitches. These stitches are a little fiddly to make but not hard. Five double crochets are worked in the same stitch. Then you remove your hook after the last stitch, insert it into the first double crochet of the group and pick the loop up that you dropped and pull it through that first double crochet.

Lastly, the Mini Butterfly Stitch. I want to make a whole baby blanket with this stitch. Groups of chains are gathered together in the middle with a single crochet to form little tiny butterfly-like shapes.

Video Tutorials for these stitches can be found here. (not every stitch has a video tutorial. I try to make them for the more complicated stitches and/or find videos from others to share)

Materials and Pattern Information

  • Your chosen worsted weight yarn
  • 5.5mm crochet hook
  • Scissors and yarn needle

Gauge: 6 dc x 4 rows = 2 inches

This is a little tricky, given it is such a mix of stitches. I would say the stitch part of the gauge is easier to get correct for this particular project. As long as your first 2 rows are measuring approximately 42 inches across you should be good.

Measurements: 42 in across x in tall
