This simple Tunisian crochet blanket pattern uses an easy stitch and self-striping yarn to create a cozy throw.
This might be my new favorite blanket! I love how the colors all blend together.
Combining a self-striping yarn and a solid yarn creates a big impact. You can crochet them in alternating stripes or blocks, or hold them together and crochet with both strands, as I did for this blanket.
If you are a Tunisian crochet beginner and want to tackle a blanket project, this one is a great pattern to start with. It uses 2 basic stitches: the Tunisian simple stitch and reverse stitch.
Beginner’s Guide to Tunisian Crochet
Cozy up on the couch and watch a movie, bring it out by the campfire, or take it to your kid’s sporting event; this blanket will be your family’s favorite.

Choosing Colors for this Blanket
I suggest using a DK weight (#3) self striping yarn and a worsted weight (#4) solid color yarn for this project.
To crochet this blanket, I used 2 balls of Mandala Bonus Bundle in Sasquatch and 2 balls of Lion Brand Pound of Love in Oxford Gray. You could use the regular cakes of Mandala yarn, but your colors will change more frequently. I recommend using a neutral solid color yarn, like gray or white, so your self-striping colors shine through!
Tunisian Crochet without the Curl!
When I set out to make this blanket, I wanted to find a way to stop it from curling. This is where the Tunisian reverse stitch comes in!
I started and ended this blanket with a few rows of the reverse stitch because this stitch naturally doesn’t curl.
