How to Crochet the Half Double Crochet V-Stitch
If you’ve ever crocheted the traditional double crochet v-stitch this will be a breeze for you because you pretty much just replace the double crochets with half double crochets (hdc). So it will be a hdc, ch 1, hdc all worked in the same place. For the foundation row you’ll work your v’s into the chains but on each row after that you’ll work your v’s in the chain 1 spaces.
This is a great stitch for tricky yarn – I’m looking at you Lionbrand Homespun- because you don’t need to see the stitches to crochet it. I used this same stitch in my Color Tour Slouchy Hat so if you want to see how this works up in the round be sure to check that out.
