This week’s crochet square was designed by me. Our new house has a garden spot that looks like it’s been neglected for the last couple of years so a garden revival is exactly what I’ve been planning. I thought it would make a nice name for this square.

I based the design of this square off of my favorite shawl pattern, the What You Love Shawl. I did change it up slightly but if you compare the two you’ll see the similarities for sure.

This pattern is pretty easy. If you know how to join rounds and make double crochets you can make this square.

I noted in the pattern my color changes but please feel free to change color wherever you want! There are so many possibilities.

When it’s finished your square should measure 12 inches or close to. Smaller is always better than bigger. You can add another round of single crochet if needed.

Some light rippling is normal for this square but it generally was pretty flat. I did not block my square yet and as you can see from the pictures it lays pretty well. You can lightly steam block it if you want or just leave it.

  1. Love this beautiful square. Using it to make an oversized hoodie for a friend for Christmas. I hope he loves it as much as I love the making of it!

  2. Hi! I plan on using this pattern to make a fairly large blanket. Any idea of much yarn I’d need? I have roughly 2,612 yds (7 skeins). Thanks!

  3. Hi! I just discovered this and am exiceted to make some squares! Laat night however i spent over two hours on this one and can’t se to get the stitch count right for each row so that the next one works. Ex i got the puff row to a 10 count per side, but I can’t get the nect row to 108 stitches total! 😭
