I put together today’s round-up of granny square crochet patterns just in case you wanted to add or switch out squares for our 2021 Stash Busting Crochet Along.

My search criteria for these granny squares was:
-Squares that used similar yarn to the suggested Vanna’s Choice
-ones the used a 5mm hook
Even if you aren’t participating in our crochet along, these 12 inch granny squares would make a fun project. Pick your favorite colors and mix and match these squares into your own blanket! You could also use them to make pillow covers or even wall hangings.
Here is a great post on Moogly about getting granny squares the same size. READ IT HERE
Alternate 12″ Granny Square Patterns
Equinox Square – Cypress Textiles
Flower Granny Square – The Purple Poncho
Rainbow Burst Granny Square – Beatrice Ryan Designs
Here are a couple of options that I designed:
This square uses a little bit of a thinner yarn but it’s easy to modify the size by doing fewer (or more) rounds.
You could also use just about any square from our 2019 Crochet Along. You may have to modify the size by changing the starting chain length but instructions for that are given on each square.
Do you have a pattern for the first alternate granny square? I love it and would like to give it a try
