This is block 17 of our 2023 Stash Busting Crochet Along Sampler. Catmingo Square was designed by Darcy from Boy Mom Crochet Life. This unique design was inspired by 2 of her kid’s favorite animals.

MY NOTES
Sizing: Darcy used a 5.5mm hook in her pattern, so note this hook change but don’t take it too seriously. I ended up using a 4.5mm hook to get the right size across. This lead to my square being a little short, I did another repeat of the “cat” section (rows 9-13) and was right on target for size after that.
Here’s What I did: I will outline my color changes and any notes I have for each row below.
I decided to change up the striping so my flamingos and cats don’t stand out as much. I also realized on the second row of puff stitches that I had been doing 4 repeats instead of the 5 she calls for in the stitch instructions.
Row 1-2: Buff
Row 3-5: Real Teal
Row 6: Buff – I couldn’t get my mini puffs to work out so I did a picot stitch instead.
- Picot Instructions: Ch 3, sc back into 1st ch
Row 7-8: Buff
Row 9-12: Cafe Latte
Row 13-14: Tea Leaves
Row 15-17: Buff
Row 18: Tea Leaves, used picot stitch instead of mini puff (see row 6)
Row 19-20: Tea Leaves
Row 21-24: Cafe Latte, These are added rows not listed on pattern, repeat of rows 9-12 in pattern
Remember though, you are working on YOUR blanket. If you don’t want to change color where I did, then please don’t. My notes and color changes below are not hard and fast rules.

As a reminder, these patterns are not mine. If you would like the purchase the PDF, most designers have them available in their shops. Also, is up to the designer to decide if she wants to publish a video or photo tutorial for the specific pattern. It is illegal for me to make a video of someone else’s pattern.
