These cabled fingerless gloves or mittens feature a pretty honeycomb cable design and are a fun one-skein project that will keep your hands warm and stylish this winter.
Since the Honeycomb Cabled Beanie was released, it has been the most popular hat pattern on my blog and I thought since you liked it so much I would give it a matchy friend.
Enter, the Honeycomb Cabled Fingerless Gloves. I have been planning on getting these out for weeks and after many trials and even more errors they are here and done and I love them.
These gloves are worked from the bottom up, starting with a ribbed band. The body section is crocheted in the round and features the lovely honeycomb cable stitch along with some increases/decreases to give you a good fit. Nobody likes a floppy glove, right?!

The Yarn
The yarn originally used in this pattern has since been discontinued. When looking for a substitute you want an Aran or bulky weight yarn that has approximately 137 yds per 3.5oz skein. You will need the full 137 yards for this hat.
Here are a couple of options I’ve found but have not tried:
- Berroco Vintage Chunky
- Love Crafts Paintbox Chunky
- Lion Brand Scarfie
- WeCrochet Brava Bulky
- Big Twist Gentle from Joann – This one I recently just used and it is almost exactly like the original yarn called for in the pattern.
Tips for Crocheting the Honeycomb Cable Stitch
-Be sure you are not putting stitches in the top of the same stitch that you put a FpTc around. It will look like a skipped stitch since the FpTc lays at a diagonal.
-When you are counting stitches, always count the FpTc as a stitch.
-You can find a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to do this stitch HERE.
You may purchase and Ad-Free PDF version of this pattern on Ravelry.

Where is the thumb hole
This is the worst pattern I have seen in a while. I am not happy. 😠
I have a question. In the right glove, on row 3 and row 5, the second FpDc is missing.
on row 3, instead of working fpdc, the instructions say to work 2 dc in the same stitch.
on row 5, after the second FpTc, it says to work dc into each stitch around. without the Fpdc.
so the “border” (idk what to call them) on one side of the honeycomb pattern is not there.
Also, it says Ch2 twice on row 3 and 5. (it’s probably just a typo)
Please correct me if I got it wrong 🙂 I completed the left glove and it looks so cute 🙂
Hello! Beautiful gloves, thanks for sharing the pattern. I do have a question about the ribbed band section. The directions state to add SC to the Ch 1 and work across = wouldn’t that equal 9 stitches total (not 8)?
The Ch1 doesn’t count as a stitch 🙂 so you Ch1, Sc in the same st as the Ch1, and the next 7 sts. =8 stitches
Oh my!! I figur ed it out! When I turned it inside out there were the cables!! Thank you!! Love your work
Oh yay!! I’m so glad you got it.
Yes I understand the cables would be in the bottom..for the left glo ve I’ve gotten to row 10..twice ripped out . There are no cables..th e directi one for the left are somewhat the same as the right. I don’t understand the purpose of double crochet 10 or 12 or 17 there are no directions like that for the right glove. The hat came out perfect and the right glove
If you count the stitches on the right glove between the “2 dc’s” there are 10 on round 2, 12 on round 3 and 17 on round 4. I had to write the numbers in the left glove instructions since your working them before the cable section and not completing the round with them.
These directions are messed up!! Why would nt the left be the same ..!! Very confused!!!?
If they were the same the honeycomb design would be on the palm of the left glove and I was trying to get the seam on the palm side vs on the top.
*row 5, my apologies
Quick question, in end 5 of the right glove when do I add the second fpdc?
Thank you for this lovely pattern, which I am eager to make, please forgive me if I am being bit dim, but how do we get from 8 stitches to 24 stitches, I can not find the process for increasing. an it appears to happen in one row ?? as I said apologies if this question is dim. T I A
Hi Sonja, I’m so glad you like the pattern. You will do 24 rows of the 8 stitches and then slip stitch the short ends together to make a tube. Then from there you chain 2 and start working in the round vs in rows. You’ll put 24 double crochets along the edge of the band, so you will be putting a double crochet in the edge of each single crochet row. Does that clear it up for you a little bit?
Yes thank you Heather, I live in England UK, it is now 18.15 pm, an my foggy head is clearing, ha ha, will start these tonight, thank you so much for your help. 🙂
My pleasure Sonja! Happy Crocheting.
