It’s no secret that I love to make hats and I am so excited to finally share this crochet beanie pattern with you!! I’ve been sitting on it for at least 2 years.
I recently came across my old sample while cleaning out my office and decided to crochet a new sample and overhaul my original crochet pattern. I am so happy with the result. I hope you love it as much as I do.
The Fly Away Beanie uses one of my favorite soft acrylic yarns, Lion Brand Heartland. This specific color is Isle Royale. I picked it because I LOVE purple but also because Isle Royale is a remote Lake Superior island in my state, Michigan.
This crochet beanie is worked from the bottom up. It features a ribbed band and a modern textured body. The body of the hat uses back loop only double crochet and puff stitches worked in a v-stitch. It is meant to be fitted, but if you prefer a more slouchy style just keep adding rounds until its the size you want.
