Here is the original square made by Ashley. My version is pictured below. I was a little bummed I missed out on those gorgeous outer rows but I needed to stop when I hit 12 inches.
Pattern Notes
Let me start off by saying this square is gorgeous! It was a lot of fun to make and Ashley’s pattern was superbly written and easy to follow.
Sizing: The yarn Ashley chose (We Crochet Brava Worsted) is one that is a lot thinner than the Vanna’s Choice I am using. This caused me to have to end the square early before all those pretty textured stitches. Overall, not a huge deal. I did need to block it to take the slight ripple out.
Here’s what I did:
I did not make any changes to Ashley’s pattern. If you are running into size issues, you could go down a hook size. If you are pattern savvy you could modify the pattern by omitting one double crochet round (rnds 8-10) and starting the post stitch pattern early. You would have to possibly change the post stitch placement though.
I used my 5mm Furls Streamline Swirl Hook (my new favorite!) and Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn.
Rnd 1-2: Fisherman
Rnd 3: Taupe
Rnd 4-5: Linen
Rnd 6-10: Silver Gray
Rnd 11: Taupe. I ended my square here because I reached the correct size.

I will probably unsubscribe because I really don’t like having to click on a link just to see a photo of the items under discussion. It is much more efficient for me to see a photo of the project and decide if it is worth it to me to study further.
Tried clicking on the link for the pdf file in Ravelry, but a pattern for a little piggy. I ended up browsing some other patterns and ended up buying six! Would like to be able to get a pdf file – Could check and see if you have the same issue? Thanks! Marcia Pistor
