This easy blanket square crochet pattern features a center that reminds me of a windmill! The Holland square is the perfect pattern for a spring or summer throw, baby blanket or pillow cover. This little 6-inch square is a showstopper.
For this square, I used a 6mm crochet hook and a combination of Red Heart Super Saver and Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn. You can use any worsted-weight yarn for this pattern. This is a great scrap buster project.
How to Use 6-inch Blanket Squares
This size granny square or blanket square is so versatile. You could make a bunch and sew or crochet them together to make a throw blanket, baby blanket, pillow cover, shawl/wrap, scarf or even a bag.
If you want to make a throw blanket you’ll need 80 squares. That’s a layout of 8 across and 10 tall. This will give you a blanket that is 48″ x 60″
For a baby blanket, you’ll want 36 for a square blanket 36″ square (6 across and 6 tall) or 42 (6 across and 7 tall) for a rectangle blanket 36″ x 42″

Melange Crochet Along Information
I designed this square as part of Maries year-long crochet along. A new 6-inch blanket square pattern will be released every week of the year by a different designer. I have browsed some of the already-released patterns and they are all awesome. Lots of different textures and plays on color.
At the end of the crochet along you’ll end up with a really special baby blanket. You’ll also have a chance to win some prizes!
