This is block 19 of our 2023 Stash Busting Crochet Along Sampler. Our featured designer this week is Katie from Salty Pearl Crochet. Her Opposite Bobble Square is a quilt-inspired block featuring bobbles worked in triangles. If you are familiar with quilting, this square mimics the quarter square triangle block.

MY NOTES

If you’ve been here a while you probably know my fondness for quilt-inspired crochet patterns so this was so fun for me to make. Katie has a whole series of these bobble square patterns on her website you could combine in any number of ways to make a blanket.

Sizing: The sizing for my square was right on, I ended just shy of 12 inches, which left me room for blocking.

Here’s What I did: I will outline my color changes and any notes I have for each row/round below.

Remember though, you are working on YOUR blanket. If you don’t want to change color where I did, then please don’t. My notes and color changes below are not hard and fast rules.

I completed all 10 rounds of this pattern and added a final round of single crochet. This was just personal preference and I probably could have gotten away without it. If you decide to add the round of single crochet, be sure to turn after round 10 so your single crochets are worked on the correct side. I also notice now that I am finished I did bobbles in round 10 when I wasn’t supposed too.

Katie did her bobbles a little differently than I usually do so make sure you read her instructions for that. I’ve made one of her other bobble squares in our 2021 CAL and remember that the way she does her bobbles makes them more defined.

Rnd 1-4: Tea Leaves

Rnd 5-6: Cafe Latte

Rnd 7: Buff

Rnd 8-11: Real Teal. Round 11 is my single crochet round and not included in the original pattern.

As a reminder, these patterns are not mine. If you would like the purchase the PDF, most designers have them available in their shops. Also, is up to the designer to decide if she wants to publish a video or photo tutorial for the specific pattern. It is illegal for me to make a video of someone else’s pattern.
