MY NOTES

It has been so long since I did any surface slip stitching and this was the perfect square to dust off my skills.

Sizing: The sizing on this square turned out to be a little small for me. I anticipated this from the start based on the number of starting chains needed so I bumped my hook up to a 5.5mm. This was still not enough. Before round 30 (the border round) my square was 10in x 10 in. I added more border rounds to compensate for the size.

Here’s What I did: I will outline my color changes and any notes I have for each row/round below.

Remember though, you are working on YOUR blanket. If you don’t want to change color where I did, then please don’t. My notes and color changes below are not hard and fast rules.

Row 1-2: Cafe Latte

Row 3: Buff

Row 4-6: Tea Leaves

Row 7: Buff

Row 8-10 Tea Leaves

Row 11: Buff

Row 12-14: Cafe Latte

Row 15: Buff

Row 16-18: Cafe Latte

Row 19: Buff

Row 20-22: Real Teal

Row 23: Buff

Row 24-26: real Teal

Row 27: Buff

Row 28-29: Cafe Latte

Border Rounds (cafe latte)

Rnd 30: I added (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner stitch.

Rnd 31 (extra): Dc all the way around placing (2dc, ch 2, 2dc) in each corner space

Rnd 32 (extra): Sc all the way around placing (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner space

Surface Slip Stitching: Buff – my best tip for this is to not overthink it. Don’t worry too much about getting the exact number of stitches.

Here is a video tutorial for surface slip stitches.

As a reminder, these patterns are not mine. If you would like the purchase the PDF, most designers have them available in their shops. Also, is up to the designer to decide if she wants to publish a video or photo tutorial for the specific pattern. It is illegal for me to make a video of someone else’s pattern.
