Learning to crochet is such a big accomplishment! I put together a list of crochet patterns for beginners for you to practice your new skills. Sorting through all the crochet patterns out there trying to find one that is at the right level can be challenging. This list takes all the guesswork out of it.
When picking patterns for this list, I chose patterns that had simple shaping and used basic crochet stitches in ways that are easy to understand. There are a couple of patterns that feature stitch combinations but most of them feature the same stitch throughout. This is a great way to get really comfortable with making a stitch.
Even if you aren’t a beginner and are just looking for a simple project to make, you’ll find something to love on this list.
Reading Crochet Patterns
If you are brand new to crochet, you might not be familiar with reading crochet patterns yet. At first, it might seem intimidating and look a little bit like a foreign language, but once you learn this skill a whole new world of crochet will open up to you and you’ll be able to make so many different crochet projects because of it.
I have a whole post outlining the ins and outs of reading crochet patterns and there’s even a free printable crochet cheat sheet. Reading crochet patterns in mostly about knowing what the abbreviations and shorthand mean. My cheat sheet will help!
