This crochet baby blanket pattern features rows of crochet cable bunnies worked on a background of back loop half double crochet. It has a classic look that will never go out of style.
I am loving crocheting blankets lately but sometimes I just don’t want to spend the time on a full-sized throw. Baby blankets are the perfect project to satisfy my blanket-making desires without taking a long time.

My Pattern Notes
This crochet baby blanket was inspired by these cable bunnies. This fun cable design was based on a knit cable design I found on Pinterest. It is still one of my favorite things I’ve designed.
I decided to use Lion Brand Pound of Love, in the color antique white for the body of this blanket. It is a super soft acrylic worsted-weight yarn. It is more on the thinner side of worsted weight in my opinion.
I wasn’t going to have enough yarn left in my ball of Pound of Love for a border and I didn’t want to purchase an entire giant ball only to use a little bit of it so I opted to use Lion Brand Baby Soft yarn for the border instead. This is a DK-weight yarn but after its all said and done, you can barely tell the change in yarn weight.

Most of this blanket is worked up using half-double crochet stitches in the back loop. There are 2 sections of cable bunnies, one on each end. There is a photo of each step of making the cable bunnies here, the only change I made is the tail. I used a bobble instead of a popcorn.
Paring this crochet baby blanket with a Beatrix Potter Treasury would make a great baby shower gift! Here is the one shown in the photos.

- There wasn’t enough yarn to use only one skein of Pound of Love and I didn’t want to purchase an entire ball to only use a little bit. I opted to use Lion Brand Baby Soft for the border, this is a DK weight but yarn it still worked out well. Feel free to use more Pound of Love or similar worsted-weight yarn for border if you prefer.

Love this pattern. Can’t wait to try it.
The count appears to be off, it says chain 99 but you need 99 stitches.
It is fixed now! Thanks for letting me know.
You’re very welcome, I thought I was messing up.
I will definitely have to try this pattern. I love the bunnies. Thank you for sharing this. I agree that POL yarn is more like a 3 than a 4 weight yarn…maybe 3 1/2 🙂 I also do bobbles instead of popcorns. In fact I’ve never made a popcorn because, to me , taking your hook our of the item you’re making just doesn’t feel right to me.
