You can find parts 1 and 2 here.
We are going to be crocheting pillow number 2 today! The Beach Cottage pillow is made up of squares of double crochet stripes along with traditional granny squares. I love the contrast between the two. The double crochet stripes remind me of how the water changes color as you look out across the lake.
As with the Lake Breeze pillow, I will be using the same 5 colors that were inspired by my love of the Great Lakes. The only difference is that instead of using the Soft Gray for the joins and border, I will be using the cream.
Since this took me a little longer than I expected to get on the blog, instead of breaking this pillow down into parts I am putting the whole pattern out today. Yay for you guys!

Row 3-9: Repeat row 2. I did 2 rows of each color and then a single row of the first color as the last row. Weave in ends.
Joining your squares
I used the same join from the Lake Breeze pillow. It is a single crochet join and creates a nice raised “box” around each square. You can refer back to that post here and here is the tutorial I used from the uber talented Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me.
Border
Rnd 1. Using same color as your joins, for me this was the Cream, Ch 1, sc in same st as ch 1 and in each stitch around placing 5 sc in each corner space. Join to top of first sc
Rnd 2-5: WORKING IN BLO FOR ENTIRE ROUND. Ch 1, sc in same st as ch 1 and in each stitch around placing 3 sc in each corner stitch. Join to top of first sc using a sl st. Note: I changed color after round 3 to medium denim.
Joining your panels
I joined these panels in the same manner as pillow 1, the Lake Breeze Pillow. Put your to panels together with wrong sides together. Choose your join color. I picked the denim. Attach your yarn through both panels near one of the corners. Ch 1, Sc same st as ch 1 and in each around, placing 3 sc in each corner until you have 3 sides joined. Slip your pillow form into the pocket and continue to sc the pocket closed. Join to top of first sc with a sl. st. Cut yarn and weave in ends. Ta-da!!

Thank you very much, Heather. I think these are lovely and I like the simplicity of them. The colors you chose are beautiful together and very peaceful, I think. The directions are well organized and it was easy to print them into a PDF. Well done!
Thank you Dottie, what a great compliment. ?
