Crochet Basketweave Stitch

This square starts with a center square worked in rows using the basket weave stitch.

This stitch is made using combinations of front and back post stitches. You’ll do a few back post stitches and then a few back post stitches. Repeat it for a few rows and then do the opposite, front post stitches and then back post stitches. This creates a woven look to your pattern.

After you make the center basketweave rows, you will single crochet all the way around it to make a base for the outer rows. It is very important that the stitch count on this first round is correct.
