The Butterfly Meadows Table Runner crochet pattern features rows of lacy, filet crochet flowers. Crochet one of these to dress up your dining table, coffee table or console table. This pattern is perfect for any season!
Filet crochet is a classic crochet technique that combines open and closed mesh stitches to create a pattern or picture on your project.
If you ever look through a vintage crochet magazine, you’ll see this technique used to create elaborate bedspreads, table cloths, table settings and more out of crochet thread. Today, this technique is used in baby blankets, summer tops, shawls, bags and other home decor.
This pattern uses mostly double crochet stitches, chains and single crochet stitches to create the elegant filet crochet flower or diamond design.
I originally designed this pattern using a hand-dyed DK (category #3) weight silk & wool blend yarn, but you can substitute any light worsted or dk weight yarn. Here are a few options –
- Paintbox Simply DK from Lovecrafts
- I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby
- Brava Worsted from WeCrochet
