The ombre Lemon Peel Stitch Hat is the perfect stash buster! This beanie is worked from the bottom up, starting with a ribbed brim using a double strand of yarn. It is quick to make and is easy to customize the size and color.
I don’t often enjoy making the same pattern over and over again, but this might be the exception. I have made 2 so far and I’m working on a third.
This hat uses 2 strands of yarn held together while you crochet. You could use 2 strands of the same color, different colors or a combination of both of these for an ombre look. It is completely customizable.
Lemon Peel Stitch in the Round
The lemon peel stitch alternates double and single crochets across a row or round. This stitch is one of my most popular tutorials year after year! Generally, when crocheting the round, it is not necessary to turn after each round. However, to get the texture right with this stitch, turning after each round is necessary.
This can be a little tricky because the slip stitch join looks like a stitch.
To make it easier to see where to start the round, I suggest placing a stitch marker in the last stitch of the current round. That way, when you turn, you’ll see what stitch you need to work into first.

Hello.
In the instructions for Rnd 1 of the body it says to Ch 1, but then to dc in same st as ch 2. So, should that first Ch 1 really be Ch 2?
Thank you.
Its supposed to say ch 1. Thanks for letting me know!
