Show your team spirit and keep warm at those chilly fall football games with this scarf! It features a football design on one end, and the rest of the scarf shows off your team’s colors. The textured stitch used is a variation of a half double crochet and has only a one-row repeat!
Make this using your high school, college or favorite NFL team colors. I made one in green and white for Michigan State University.
There is also an ear warmer pattern to match! It has quickly become the most popular pattern in my Etsy shop each fall. Crochet the set and give it to your favorite football fan as a Christmas gift. If you want to, you could even skip the football side and make it all in your team’s colors instead.
You could also change the stripe layout by doing more or fewer rows of each color. This pattern is very versatile.
I used one of my favorite stitches to make this scarf! It’s a half double crochet alternating between back and front loops across the row. It creates a mini waffle-like pattern. I love the texture on this one!

Surface Slip Stitch (Surface sl st) = Make a slip knot and hold it to the underside (wrong side) of the piece. Insert hook from top side (right side) to underside. Place slip knot on hook, bring the loop up to the top side; leave the working yarn strand on the underside of the project. *In next space over from last insertion, insert hook from top side to underside through piece, yarn over, draw loop to top side and through loop on hook (surface slip stitch made)*. Repeat from * to * as needed.

Center line: Starting in center of 3rd row of large brown section, surface sl st across 5 rows. Finish off. (5 surface sl st)
Laces: Place 2 surface sl st across center line at points listed below
- Between 1st and 2nd surface sl st
