The Dandelion Granny Square is an 8-inch square featuring a textured center reminiscent of a dandelion flower gone to seed.
This square is part of the 2026 Granny Square Month Crochet Along hosted by Marie of the Underground Crafter. Each day this month features a brand new granny square pattern designed by Marie or another designer.

My square features an alternating post stitch circle with popcorns stitches at the ends. This is a fun little square that looks good in multiple colors or one solid color.
I used a couple of different worsted-weight yarns. The center is Hobby Lobby’s I Love this Yarn in antique white, the green outline is Red Heart Super Saver in Frosty Green and the outside is Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Mustard. This is truly a scrappy pattern!

Front Post Popcorn (FPPC): *Yo, insert hook from front to back to front around post of stitch indicated, yo, pull up loop, [yo pull through 2 loops] twice – 1 fpdc made – Repeat from * 4 more times (5 front post double crochets made). Drop loop from hook. Reinsert hook into first fpdc, pick up dropped loop and pull through first fpdc.

Row 1: With off-white, make a magic circle (alternatively, ch 4, and join to form a ring). Ch 2, make 12 dc in ring. Join. (12)
Row 2: Ch 2, Starting in same st as ch 2, *2dc, (dc, fpdc) in next. Repeat from * around. Join (24)
Row 3: Ch 2, Starting in same st as ch 2, *2dc, Fpdc in next. Repeat from * around. (36)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, Starting in same st as ch 2, *2dc, dc in next, Fpdc around next, 2dc in next, dc in next, FpPC around next. Repeat from * around. Join. (48)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, starting in same st as ch 2, * 2dc, dc in next 2, FpPc around next, 2dc in next, dc in next 3. Repeat from * around. Join. (60)
